University Choir Performance - Dido and Aeneas
This year is the 60th anniversary of the UoP Choir. To celebrate the choir is staging a performance of Dido and Aeneas on Saturday 10 May (1pm and 5pm) and Sunday 11 May (2pm). The show is an hour long and is fully staged, featuring our students alongside professional and community performers. Please do attend, if you can and feel free to circulate details to others who may be interested.
Dido and Aeneas is an ancient and tragic story of love and loss featuring magic and mayhem. It tells of Dido's love for Aeneas, his departure and her psychological decline and tragic end, all set to wonderful music by the English Baroque composer Henry Purcell.
Sung throughout, this fully staged production in the Lens Studio of ³ÉÈ˶¶Òõ Guildhall on 10th and 11th May is set in the 1920s. It stars Ciara White (Dido) alongside a student company and a chorus of more than 80 singers, directed by Professor George Burrows and Dr Phoebe Rumsey.
Marking 60 years of the ³ÉÈ˶¶Òõ Choir, this will be an hour-long feast of song and dance that ultimately tugs at the heartstrings. Seating is unreserved and there are only 50 seats for each performance, so to reserve a space please contact julie.reynolds@port.ac.uk
